Kanyakumari, Oct 23: Speaking at the inauguration of the Soorasamharam festival, Naam Tamilar Katchi Women's Wing State Coordinator Maria Jennifer noted that the important six-day fast for Lord Murugan (Kanda Sashti Vratam) began yesterday. On the first day, she participated in the lamp-lighting worship at the Murugan Temple located on the Chekkargiri hill in Thovalai, within the Kanyakumari assembly constituency, along with Thovalai union officials. She remarked that the event provided an opportunity to enjoy the peace of the temple where Siddhas once worshipped and the natural beauty of the surrounding hills, while also interacting with party members and the public. She further announced that the famous 'Thovalai Soorampadu' festival of Kanyakumari district will be held on the 27th and extended her festival greetings to the people of Thovalai and Murugan devotees across the world.
