Solid Waste Management Project Will Be Implemented: NTK Candidate Maria Jennifer Assures
While campaigning in the Kanyakumari assembly constituency, Naam Tamilar Katchi candidate Maria Jennifer addressed the long-standing issue of solid waste management. She noted that without proper scientific disposal, waste heaps are growing like mountains, often catching fire and causing toxic smoke that forces residents to flee their homes. Jennifer criticized previous administrations for negligence, particularly in letting waste reach the sea. She proposed a solution where waste is segregated at the source (homes and businesses) into biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and electronic waste. She emphasized creating a circular economy where one industry's waste becomes another's raw material, and non-recyclable waste is used as fuel for cement factories. These solutions are detailed in NTK's 12-page waste management draft manifesto. She urged voters to support a change that offers visionary solutions rather than temporary fixes.
