Sea Erosion Impacts in Kanyakumari District; NTK Urges for a Permanent Solution
Nagercoil: Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) state coordinator Jenifer visited the Puthenthurai area, where 13 houses have been severely affected by sea erosion. He met with the local residents and fishermen to hear their grievances. Jenifer accused the government administration of making no effort to find a permanent solution to the recurring sea erosion problem. He stated that despite residents and fishermen's welfare associations requesting even a temporary groyne wall for over a year, officials have neglected the request. He demanded that the district administration conduct a thorough study of all vulnerable coastal areas and implement proper sea erosion prevention measures rather than offering superficial actions. He affirmed that NTK would continue to exert political pressure until the affected people receive necessary relief and a permanent solution is achieved. Other party coordinators including Deepak Solomon and Jayan Reen were also present during the visit.
