In Nagercoil, State Coordinator of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), Solomon Deepak, issued a statement regarding the permanent closure of the TASMAC liquor outlet in Marungoor, Amaravathivilai. He noted that the shop had been operating in violation of rules and causing immense disturbance to the public for over 14 years. During this period, major parties like DMK and AIADMK held power in Tamil Nadu, and representatives from parties including the BJP held local office, yet none resolved the issue despite numerous petitions from the weary public. When NTK took up the legal battle, the AIADMK reportedly filed a case to claim credit through symbolic protests. However, Deepak emphasized that the crucial court orders, including the remeasurement order that proved the shop's illegality, were issued based on NTK's specific legal filings. He concluded that the victory belongs solely to the relentless field protests and legal initiatives of the Naam Tamilar Katchi.
