Petition to Collector to Repair the Damaged Manakudy Bridge

Petition to Collector to Repair the Damaged Manakudy Bridge

Nagercoil, Oct 28: The Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) has urged the District Collector to repair the dilapidated Manakudy Panchayat bridge. Maria Jennifer, the state coordinator of the NTK Women's Wing, submitted a petition at the Collector's office stating that a massive pipeline and iron bridge were constructed years ago between Melmanakudy and Keezhamanakudy in Kanyakumari district to transport water. Due to natural calamities over the years, the massive water pipes and the bridge used for passage are now in a broken and collapsing state. This is the primary route used by fishermen to take their boats for fishing. The bridge is currently non-functional. If the bridge collapses completely, the fishing boats anchored in that area will be stuck, unable to enter the sea, and the public will be severely affected. Therefore, the petition requested the removal of the old structure from the area before any loss of life occurs. State Fishermen Wing coordinator Jayanrin, State coordinator Deepak Solomon, Regional Secretary Panneerselvam, and Agastheeswaram West District President Sundaresan were present during the submission.
