NTK marches ahead by declaring candidates, commences campaign

While major political parties are still struggling to finalize alliances or are caught in internal tussles, Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) has surged ahead by announcing candidates for nearly 100 constituencies for the 2026 assembly election. NTK has also kickstarted its constituency level campaign for the polls. NTK spokesman Idumbavanam Karthik stated that while DMK and AIADMK rely on money power, NTK's strength lies in the people, which is why they have started early.

The party is boosted by its 8.3% vote share in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and fresh recognition by the Election Commission. Like previous elections, NTK will contest alone. Seeman has sharpened attacks not just on DMK, AIADMK, and BJP, but also on TVK chief Vijay. Candidates have begun door-to-door visits and are distributing saplings to voters. The party plans to prioritize 15 constituencies where it secured more than 30,000 votes in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Notable candidates announced include director Kalanjiyam for Thousand Lights and spokesperson Idumbavanam Karthik for Vedaranyam.
