Nagercoil, Aug 25 - The Naam Tamilar Katchi has announced that it will organize protests against the hydrocarbon well project. Mary Jennifer, the state women's wing coordinator of the party, issued a statement expressing shock over the Central Environmental Impact Assessment Authority's permission to ONGC to set up hydrocarbon wells at 20 locations in Ramanathapuram. The statement claims the central government is attempting to force this project upon the land without conducting public hearings, posing a major threat to the environment and livelihoods. It further criticizes the state government's silence on the matter and calls for strong opposition against these anti-people and anti-ecological projects. The party stated that following their awareness campaigns, they will now mobilize the public for massive protests.
