Naam Tamilar Katchi Supports Keeriparai Rubber Plantation Workers' Protest
Nagercoil: The Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) has officially declared its support for the Keeriparai rubber plantation workers' strike. Maria Jennifer, the State Coordinator of the NTK Women's Wing, participated in the protest and stated that Kanyakumari district possesses the ideal climate and skilled labor for high-quality rubber production. She criticized the Tamil Nadu Rubber Corporation and the DMK government for neglecting workers' welfare and attempting to hand over 18 hectares of plantation land to private entities under the guise of forest department management. Jennifer argued that while 120 workers are employed, only 80 are permanent, leaving the rest on a contract basis with no job security due to sudden privatization. She accused the government of making false pre-election promises about establishing rubber parks and stated that NTK will stand with the people until their demands are met and the privatization decisions are reversed. State Coordinator Deepak Solomon and other party officials also participated in the event.
