Members of the Naam Tamilar Katchi held a protest demanding the closure of a TASMAC liquor shop near the Eraniel junction. Although a court order had previously led to the closure of the attached bar, the party continued to demand the total shutdown of the shop itself. When employees tried to open the shop yesterday under police protection, protesters gathered and attempted to blockade the road by dragging barricades. This led to a tense situation and disrupted traffic for about an hour. Police arrested 146 individuals, including state and local functionaries like Ancy Sobha Rani and Hariharan, and detained them at a private marriage hall in Neyyoor.
