Naam Tamilar Katchi Members Protest by Besieging Theater
In Nagercoil, August 7 - Members of the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) conducted a protest by besieging a cinema theater. The movie 'Kingdom' has been released in several theaters across Tamil Nadu. It is alleged that this film contains defamatory scenes regarding the Tamil Eelam issue. Consequently, NTK leader Seeman had announced protests to besiege theaters screening the film. Accordingly, NTK members led by Nagercoil constituency candidate Muthukumar gathered in front of a theater in Vadasery where the film was being screened. Following the protest, police held talks with the participants and the screening of 'Kingdom' was halted at the theater. After an agreement was reached, the siege was called off. Several key party functionaries including State Coordinator Deepak Solomon, Padmanabhapuram candidate Seelan, and others participated. The protesters also tore down posters of the movie pasted outside the theater, causing tension in the area.
