High Court 'Dramatic' Order!
In the Marungur TASMAC shop dispute, the Madurai Bench of the High Court has issued an order to investigate whether rules were violated and to submit a report. The Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) had filed a case seeking the removal of the government liquor shop in Marungur, Kanyakumari district, which they claim was set up in violation of regulations, causing nuisance to the public. NTK State Women's Wing Coordinator Maria Jennifer stated that the party has been consistently protesting alongside local residents. Following petitions to the Collector and protests, a legal case was filed through NTK State Coordinator Salaman Deepak and lawyer Glittus. The judges hearing the case directed that the status of the petitions given to the Collector be reported. Furthermore, they ordered officials to inspect and measure whether the liquor shop violates Rule 8 of the Tamil Nadu Liquor Retail Rules by being located near places of worship. The next hearing is scheduled for January 29. NTK members have expressed excitement, viewing this as a primary victory for their honest efforts and the trust placed in them by the people of Marungur.
