Environmental pollution caused by burning medical waste: Naam Tamilar Katchi executive Maria Jennifer urges action
Nagercoil, Nov 4: A major fire occurred at night in a private warehouse located at the foothills of Ramanathichan Puthur, under the Marungoor Town Panchayat in the Agastheeswaram North District of Kanyakumari. Upon receiving the information, Maria Jennifer, the State Coordinator of the Naam Tamilar Katchi Women's Wing, inspected the site along with local party officials. For a long period, medical and plastic wastes have been dumped in this warehouse, and it is alleged that the owners intentionally set the waste on fire. This incident at the natural foothills has caused a significant environmental impact. Naam Tamilar Katchi officials have urged the Town Executive Officer, Town President, Ward Councillor, and the police department to take appropriate action against this anti-social act. In addition to departmental actions, measures for environmental protection are being pursued. The prompt inspection and action taken by the Naam Tamilar Katchi members have been well-received by the local public.
